Vancouver Based Hibret Amharic School to Hold its Annual Fundraising Event on May 25, 2019

VANCOUVER, BC – May 02, 2019 — Hibret Amharic School invites you to its second annual fundraising event, scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre in Vancouver, BC.

The event will feature the finest Ethiopian vegetarian foods. All foods will be freshly prepared by volunteer parents in support of Hibret elementary school in Debre-Zeit, Ethiopia.

This year’s event offers a variety of great, home made and delicious Ethiopian vegetarian foods, and entertainment, in a relaxed indoor setting. Guests can sample many different Ethiopian foods from the buffet, and enjoy home cooked foods, using local and imported ingredients and spices.

Many activities are planned for the evening, including: art and crafts, face painting for children, video presentation, silent auctions, raffles tickets, and much more.

Admission will be by donations. Minimum donation is $20/person. All proceeds from this event will support Hibret Elementary School in Debre-Zeit (also known as Bishoftu), Ethiopia.

At its annual fundraising event in 2018, Hibret Amharic School was able to raise more than $3,600 CAD, which was sent to its namesake school in Debre-Zeit for a desperately needed desks. Read more about last year’s fundraising event here:

About Hibret Amharic School (HAS):
Vancouver, British Columbia based Hibret Amharic School was founded by Mekdes Gete in 2016 on an effort to give back to the community and to support the Debre-Zeit based Hibret Elementary School. Mekdes teaches Amharic language (National language of Ethiopia) to Vancouver area children on a volunteer basis.
